I know we are totally off topic here, but has your friend tried acupuncture? I was so amazed with the results. I went and had this procedure done 4 months after surgery. I had treatment during spring break, and after 4 sessions I was doing my spring cleaning. I kid you not. They say they can decrease your pain up to 80%, and boy howdy did she. I would like to start it again but my insurance has changed and it will cost more out of pocket, which I can't afford at the moment. Needles sound scary, but it is so different when you have it done. Have her check into this, it may help her.
