Hi, I have signed up for SFI a few weeks ago. my understanding is that you have to buy some of the products that you are promoting in order to lock your position in their powerline each month and "Go Executive", but only if you dont make a direct sale. This entitles you to a share in the compensation pool which pays around $9 a month if you do nothing else but go executive for that month.
I remember reading one of their tips for promoting your affiliate link, it was to leave a business card with your affiliate link on it in the back of a taxi so people would pick it up. I thought this is a pretty weak advertising technique. They also encourage you to sell to friends and family, i hate doing that, especially if the products are crap.
I decided not to go ahead with it, mainly because their was a limited amount of products to promote and i had hear alot about them not paying out.
