Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME. I've received dozens of these fake emails claiming to be PayPal, Bank of America and especially eBay.
Malina hit it right on the nail, ALWAYS go back to the original website to login and check your messages through there. If you don't have any personal messages through the site then it's a good chance that email's a fluke.
