Default You Can Learn to Become a Good Marketer

Finding ways to advertise and promote your business is probably one of the more difficult skills to learn. It is also a topic that most new business owners do not know how to do. Hence, one of the reasons why they fail.

This is why it is so important to take time out and learn certain skills, like sells, marketing and effective communication. In order to grow your business, you too must grow and when I say grow, I mean grow in you skills but also grow into becoming a business person.

Such growth won't happen overnight. For example, I learned a lot about some marketing methods from an MLM I was a member of for almost 4 years. I was taught about putting out fliers on cars, putting up posters, placing newspapers ads, and talking to people. I did ok, but I feel I could probably do better because I have become a better business person.

Talking to people and making arrangements with companies whose service I was paying for to help me market my business was something I was not that great at. I did not know how to determine whether I was getting a good deal for my money or not.

There are some great sources to learn about marketing. Books on selling are available. For instance, one book I might suggest is called "Endless Referrals" by Bob Burg is a good book. It has helped me develop good relationships with customers so that I can get referrals. Remember, it is much easier to work with your current customer than to go get new customers. Another book is "How to Sell Anybody Anything" by Joe Girard, and "How to Create Best-Selling Advertisements", by Cort Sutton.

The only other requirement is once you learn, then be sure you do or rather put yourself into action. It does no good to read about how to do something and never do it.

Thanks for information. I'm struggling at learning how to be good at marketing. I'm a shy and quiet person and don't have good people skills so I guess I need to work on that to get better at marketing.

Hi Kenorv,
Actually most people who start a business are like you. I too am very shy and quiet. I am a techie nerd. When I first started my business, it was very difficult for me to talk to people. It took me about a year or so before I was able to get through my script and not have someone hang up on me.

The thing you have to recognize is that having a business is a process. It takes a while to learn the skills and gain the experience. Give yourself time to learn and grow. Also, remember something that I was taught recently, don't take it personally. If someone hangs up on you or is rude to you, don't take it personally.

Also, the way that I have overcame my fear and still am overcoming my fears is to just step out beyond my comfort zone. If you are scared, don't let your fear paralyze you.

Robert Kiyosaki, the man who wrote Rich Dad, Poor Dad, is also a very shy person, but he forced himself to learn how to sell. He failed for 2 years before he became the top salesperson at Xerox. Now, he is a very wealthy man.

Just keep moving forward Kenorv. Keep failing and making mistakes, but be sure that you learn from them and move forward. You will get better, I promise. If I can do it, I know anybody can. I even have a speech impediment, but most people don't even know this. The good news is this, the difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people failed more. I hope this makes you realize that it is ok to be shy, quiet and struggling.

There are also a ton of good books on it. I have been reading up on it for the last few months. The only way you are going to learn is by doing it and testing, than failing and learning from your failures.

The problem for most people is that many are not willing to fail or make mistakes. If you don't have the stomach for dealing with change and making mistakes and possibly failing, then owning a business is not for you.

One does not purposely want to fail or make mistakes, but when it happens, the reaction should be to take the experience as a learning experience and move forward.

One needs to realize that there are very few problems that one cannot solve. Often it is the way we view and handle problems that determines our success and failures in life.

Being shy is normal. Getting over it is not as hard as you think. The more you do something the more comfortable it will become. Being shy is just a fear of failure. Its ok to fail just learn from it and keep going.

Sell stuffs, you love, you use personally, easy to understand benifit of products. I sell hydrogen generator kit which save gas and make car runs cleaner. The kit generate(HHO) which help burn gasoline and HHO it self burn.

I do marketing on and offline, building awareness on both front.
I got no shyness offline, go gas station, start talking people caually like, gas price is crazy don't you think? 100% people i talk say yes, then i goes i have HHO generator on my car which save gas. DO you want look at it? 1 minute Huh, Most of people say why not. Then show the devise in action, leave my contact. That it. Once gas price hit$4,$5,$6 They know who to contact.

You gotta get hussling and haggling skill, if you want sell something on street. Good luck

Hello Freedom69,

I am shy but I continue to do things that require me to put myself out there. This is why I am much better at talking to people than we used to be. I continue to work on my weaknesses; like talking to people, until they become strengths.

Mechanic999,
I also sell online and offline. It is important to have at least 3 marketing methods. I have more than 3 for my online as well as my offline marketing. I continue to engage in income producing activities every day.
