Default Where would you not advertise?

Which areas do you see as not helping you with your advertising? And Why?

Hmmm... I would probably stray from advertising on non-related sites.

Good thing I am keeping me promotional efforts targeted as our sites have been getting good conversions lately

Good point, people should remember to not be too strict with their relations, unless you have a very broad niche.

I think the newspapers are a bad idea. I lived off of them at one time. Now I think everyone has moved to the internet

Free ads forums are a waste of time. The only people who visit these forums are advertisers and spammers. If you want to reach an audience that may be interested in your ads, free ads forums are not the place to advertise.

Default I would not advertise on the street i.e. flyers etc

I think people are busy enough, or ask them and they will say they are, but truly advertising should be able to be taken in. You don't need to write a review of the ad you just viewed a moment to take it all in is nice. Taking it all in of course has alot to do with how well the ad is titled, the desdription, and the display.......is it neat tidy or a big mess. So if people can't take it in I wouldn't advertise there.

I think that non-related sites could be a source, if done right. Now, I wouldn't necessarily go to a health related site and start advertising about writing novels. But in a health forum, you might could have in your signature a link to a page on raising children or relationships -- topics that may not necessarily be related, but because participants might have children or having relationship troubles might be there. I wouldn't be posting ads for a child rearing site, because that wouldn't fit. But a link in the signature or resource box could draw some visits to your page.

As for what someone else posted for free advertising sites, I would agree. They are a big waste of time.

I think the best place I've found so far, besides forums, to draw traffic has been writing articles at Ezine. I haven't tried GoArticles yet, but I plan to soon!

I think paid to click sites are a total waste of time for promoting your site and other advertising sites with member base are a waste of time too.

Default Don't fall for Guaranteed Traffic Ads!

Guaranteed traffic sites have sucked thousands from me in the past. They produce the lowest quality traffic....I doubt it's even human beings they send to your site.

The reason I kept falling for them is I would join a program, and I wanted to see visitors instantly. It does work, but you will make $zero from the traffic.

No matter how enticing 10,000 visitors for $9.99 is....don't fall for it. When I learned my lesson it was much more expensive - and I still fell for it eight or nine times.

Hope this saves people some money.
