Default Marketing methods for a business

To market your business, there are many marketing methods that can help. I implemented some online and offline marketing methods. Some online methods include newspaper ads, sending postcards to leads, flyers, giving out business cards. Online marketing methods include forum posting, submitting articles, blogs, and and there are some online networking sites that you can place your business information into; such as, salessider.com. The key is to be consistent with your marketing methods. This means everyday, do one or more of your methods and in time, you should start to see some results from your efforts. Look at this as planting seeds. Your seeds will not blossom overnight. Your seeds need watering, fertilizing, and nurturing in order to grow. The same applies to your business. Give it love and it will, in time, show it's appreciation.

Michelle, I have heard the same thing as well as newletters, but my problem is finding content. Where does one go to get the content for you press releases and newsletters?

How should one go about writing a press release for a web-related biz?

I guess I will do some research on what exactly is a press release and what kind of content a press release should have that would make it successful. I am not at all familiar with press releases, but I have heard many people do use them to help with their businesses. I just never have implemented this marketing method into my business plan.

Marketing Methods is the title of this post.

I use most of what has been mentioned as well. Plus social networking sites. No, I haven't had any sign-ups yet because it is fairly new.

My concerns with social sites is the quanity vs.quality. Pretty much everyone is in a business and are trying to promote theirs. Repeat customers is what I'm looking for I leave my links in mys signature at all forumns I belong too. That's beneficial.

Thanks, I really appreciate these tips. I have been looking at it as "planting seeds" and have tried to do what you suggested - be consistent day by day. But I need to expand my efforts. I have been using free classifieds and have been seeing some results from them as well. I have some small flyers that I take out with me whenever I go out and while I do my errands, I leave a few in convenience stores, laundromats, restaurants.

All of the above suggested methods work. The key things to keep in mind is not only persistence and consistence, but also to do a lot of it.

For instance, I learned that with flyers, in order to it to be effective, you should put out at least 300 flyers per week.

Newspapers ads, the circulation of the newspapers should be about 300,000 or more. You don't have to get this amount from one newspaper, but use more than one paper to achieve the 300,000 in circulation. Also, note, I have been told that there is a difference between readership and circulation. What that is, I really don't know because I never asked, but there must be a difference because readership and circulation are used separately.

And lastly as far as online marketing. I started 4 months ago and when I started posting to forums, which I knew nothing about when I first got started, I was posting to 3 - 5 different forums under 5 different subjects almost everyday and I mean 6 - 7 days a week and I did this for 3 months straight. It is no wonder that I have had over 1000 people visit my web site and 25-30 people in my group. I am doing this part time.

The key to online marketing is you want to be everywhere on the internet. One of the other members in my group has been doing online marketing for about a year. His business has taken off and he has over 100 people in his group and people are joining him everyday and we both are making money.

Whatever methods you are using to market your business, it is best to have at least 3 different types of methods that you are using to market your business and you should be doing lots of it. I try to do as much as I can in the little amount of time I have.

Great suggestions. I definitely need to increase quantity. I am basically going to start putting some of the money I make back into the business, and so I am building gradually. Now that I have some earnings, I want to always funnel some of that into promotion. I was just looking at online advertising as opposed to flyers and it is really affordable and you can reach a more targeted audience. For example, one pay-to-click charges 1.99 for 100 views, 30 seconds. Everyone is already interested in earning money online. I haven't found a source for paper copies at even 2 cents, and I can actually provide more information online. I figure it is at least worth a try.
