Before my home was broken into a few months back and my laptop was stolen, I had a whole list of social networking sites that I used. Now, I have to gradually rebuild my list of links again. Twitter was one of the sites I am familiar with. Thanks for reminding me. I now have added another one of my favorite social networking sites to my list.

Yes, I do backup my computer, but I still have not figured out how to backup my bookmarks for Mozilla. I need to find some time to figure this out so that I don't keep losing all of my links when a computer goes bad or is stolen.

I'm not sure which Mozilla product you're using, but if it is Firefox, look under Organize Bookmarks option in the Bookmarks menu. It should bring up a box that lets you rearrange the bookmarks. If you look at the menu on this window, there is an option to Import and Backup. In addition to the backup and restore options, this menu also allows you to export and import from an HTML file.

I used this recently when I was redoing the configuration on my laptop and installing an updated version of LInux. I exported my bookmarks to a folder on a partition that wouldn't be changing and was able to save my bookmarks that way.

I'm on Facebook as well! I really enjoy it! For me, its a GREAT way to keep up with friends and family!! I keep reading about using Facebook as well as MySpace (I have a page there too...) for networking etc.. Any good ideas on how to use them? I see that on paydotcom you can get a "widget" to post on your blog, or facebook etc... Has anyone ever used it? What is your take on it? Thanks! Have a great day!

I have a Facebook page, and I love it! I use it to keep in contact with family and friends. I have read that there are lots of people who use pages like Facebook and MySpace to help advertise their business. Has anybody used the "widget" on paydotcom? They say you can use it on your Facebook and MySpace pages. Have you had any results? What is your review? Thanks for the input!

We actually use facebook quite a bit - to help facilitate the community for our members and to promote events, keep track of people, etc. A couple bits of advice: if you are an organization or website, you're better off setting up a group page or fan page. I'd also be slightly wary of reaching out to people to be 'friends' when you don't know them. Someone recently asked me 4 times to be their friend (they had a business that was a direct competitor to a business whose group I'd joined), and after declining the friendship three times in less than a week, I ended up reporting them to FB on the 4th friend request. FB is pretty rigid about only having individual pages for individuals. If they find an individual page that's not just someone's personal page, they'll delete it, that person will lose the content on it and that email address will never be able to be used again on FB... We ultimately decided it was best just to follow their rules and use the group/fan page functionality for our little inet biz.

Grady, I want to thank you for your help. I found where I can backup my bookmarks to a file. Now, when I am backing up my computer, I will be able to save all of my bookmarks so that if something else should happen to my computer, I will be able to have available my bookmarks.
