When I first started working from home several years ago, I tried making cold calls to grow my business. The truth of the matter was, that the people were not interested in me or my business. The leads I got just didn't want to be bothered, except for a very rare few.

This caused a paradigm shift for me to seek a different way. I have found the way that works for me through attraction marketing. You see, even if I could get people to join me, the people I brought in couldn't always do the same. That is what I so love about internet marketing today. I NEVER call anyone first, they always come to me, because of the marketing exposure. By the time my phone rings the sorting has already been done for me and I know the person is interested in what I have to offer. Like I said, I've tried both ways, and if anyone is still doing the cold calling, my hat is off to you. It simply didn't work for me, that doesn't mean it can't work for others. I could never go back to it now, after experiencing having prospects chase me and my marketing system.

Good post, and all the best to everyone.

James you are so right. This is exactly the way attraction marketing works. I also noticed that you used your name in your post. This is huge. I notice on lots of forums where people don't use their name and they are missing an opportunity to brand themselves.

Great post. Thanks for sharing!

Establishing a relationship with someone whom you don't know can be difficult but once you get past that part, you are good to go. You can't do anything bt go up.

What is being discussed here is building relationships. This is something I am currently learning in my current business opportunity.

Building relationships is probably the best way of building your business. I was not very good at this in the beginning. But, now that I am starting to understand how it works and what it is about, I have gotten better and I am discovering that it is working very well for me.

In fact, forum posting is one of the ways in which we can build relationships. Participating in social networking sites is also another way. Blogging is another way. There are many methods that one can use to connect and build relationships with people. It may require that one step out of their comfort zone, but as in most businesses, this is the requirement for growth to occur.

once you get more experinece, you will not mind making cold calls, yes I can remember one time many years ago I was selling books, I would drive up to a house and be so nervous, I would say to myself "they dont want any books and drive away, I would be so nervous, many years later I look back and laugh at those times. You will get over it,

I have been reading one of Robert Kiyosaki's books on investing. In the book, he talks about his introduction to learning how to sell.

Before Robert Kiyosaki the entrepreneur, there was Robert Kiyosaki the salesman. Robert started working for Xerox as a salesperson to learn how to sell. Selling is a skill and there are those who do it very well.

Good salespeople are good communicators. The better at communicating you are and the more people you communicate to, the more money you will make.

Kenorv, that fact that you and I don't make too many sells cold calling, does not mean that cold calling is ineffective. It is just ineffective for us. I have met people who are extremely good at cold calling. You and I could be good too. But in order to be good at cold calling, you and I must first develop our skills to overcome our fears, to overcome rejection, and improve our ability to communicate our product or service to others. Once we have reached this point, we have opened the door to using any kind of marketing method to sell our products and services and this includes cold calling. In other words, cold calling would then be an effective marketing method for you and I.

I am no fan of cold calling either, in fact I avoid it all together. I use purchased leads and leads from my lead capture page mainly. thanks

I used to buy leads. I am living proof that buying leads doesn't work. I promise you. Please don't waste money on leads. I just put up a new video that touches on this very topic.
Also, Here is the link to the audio for anyone who is interested.

I appreciate you!

Yes, I too have bought leads and lost. It would probably benefit you more to go through your local telephone book. You might have better results.

Thanks for the info.
