I understand where you are coming from, DHL. I just found for me, that people stick around if they are using a proven duplicatable system that generates leads and also is fun. If people are not having fun and not getting results they quit. Plus generating free leads that come to me is much cheaper then spending money on leads. Have a great day!

I agree with you Wendy. If people are not having fun, then many will quit. However, in saying this, I think there are times when one must not let their fears paralyze them from moving forward and here is what I mean.

I know when I started my first home business, I was scared to talk to people on the phone. I was so scared, my voice would quiver badly and my speech impediment would become more pronounced that most people would hang up on me. Despite my fears and many failures, I persisted. Now, almost five years later, most people cannot tell that I am shy and introverted Lawren. I do live trainings with people that are not even in my group. I also engage in conversations during trainings that have tons of people on the phone. It took time for me to get to this point. Actually, my confidence started to grow this past year. People often tell me that they have noticed a significant amount of growth in me. Others tell me that they don't see me as being shy and introverted, but I am. I promise you this.

Now, I am about to take another step that is very scary for me, but I feel that if I am to become that leader that I so much want to be, that I need to do this, not only for myself and my business, but to show others that it can be done. Also, I feel that I am ready. I am about to start doing more face to face presentations. I have booked a booth at an event in my town and I am in the midst of preparing my packages, products, and other business paraphernalia. I am trying to get as prepared as I can because if I know that I am well prepared, I have less worry and stress. My first event will take place this weekend.

I will also be visiting some of the businesses in the downtown area where I work. It should be interesting, to say the least.

Now, for some this is not such a big thing, but with me it is. I remember, this past year, I went to meet a new customer of mine to give her the products she ordered. I got so nervous that I couldn't calculate her change in my head and me with a degree in math. Her son was cute though. He could see that I was nervous and made a mistake. I apologized and he said, "It's ok, it's ok, you are doing fine." He is 9 years old! LOL! Embarrassing.

Anyway, sometimes it is necessary to do the things you fear the most and enjoy the least until you learn and have a handle on things. Once you have a few successes and acquired the confidence, then you will find more joy in the things that once made you uncomfortable. Overcoming obstacles, such as one's fears, is part of the growth we all, as entrepreneurs, must endure. When this happens, success is so much sweeter.

Lawren, You go girl! I'm excited for you and will keep you in my prayers this weekend. You will do great. You are an awesome women and your passion comes through in your posts. I can just imagine how amazing you are face to face.

I just wanted to say I totally agree with you 100% about fear and the phone. I use the phone all day long in my business. It is part of relationship building and good customer service. I just don't do cold calls nor do I buy business opportunity leads. I just think that leads generated myself through relationships works for me.

Please let us know how it goes this weekend.

Wendy

I agree that cold calling can be very difficult to do (I'd rather have teeth pulled) but the fact is, the phone (or person to person) is the best way. Much more effective than emails or letters that send someone to your website, etc. So the (simple minded) answer is to have people call you! That is, if you are not reluctant to take calls from people dialing your number.

But that kind of begs the issue because the challange is then how to have people call you. But how to do this? Some ways have been offered up here --including this forum. Advertising is expensive and so even is google. Forget about regular mail outs!

I find that eamiling a quick message to current home biz owners of almost anykind and then sending them to a recorded message where I have details and THEN, having them call me if interested works. By the time I get the call, I know the person is very interested because they have gone thru a couple of steps. It sure doesn't feel like a cold call at all.The harvestisng method works well for this.

Markint,

That sounds like a very good idea, but can you be more specific on how to do that, (do you have access or have to buy a list of business owners?)

I have a great new product that I'm very excited about, but i'm struggling on finding ways to get it out to the masses.

Thanks,

DHL

Cold calling...I have done that and really do not like to. So, how do I know how to find the people who will like what I do and want to buy it?

Default I never cold call

I hate cold callingalso. The best wayI have found is harvesting. I find people on the internet who have a website for their business and send them an email or even a message. I can send you a free set of directions on how to do it if you email me.

Most of us -- me included -- have great difficulty in finding qualified prospects and then contacting them. I finally stumbled across Harvesting -- I find people in home businesses on the internet and then email them (or, in my case, I can also broadcast to them). I leave a website they can check out and then if they are interested, they call me.

I can send you a free "course" on how to do the initial harveting if you email me.
