BEWARE .... PROCESSED FOODS Are KILLING US SLOWLY
Makes it difficult for people to stay healthy?
Do you think the pharmacutical industry is "in" on that.
The sicker people are - they more money they make......right?
Processed this, processed that.......... the cheap bread is the one most can afford and it's not good for you. (just ONE example of MANY)
I want real maple syrup on my kids waffles and guess what? For the price of one bottle of the heathly stuff - I can buy 5 bottle of the crap..........something is wrong here.
Any one else?

Healthy products cost more than over processed crap
Agreed,
No doubt about it, we have seen this trend of over processed foods which have little nutritional value, and it is for this very reason the organic and local farm stores are booming. The internet has educated people on these issues like never before, so the trends of buying higher quality foods is also booming.
I saw an interview with creator of organic fresh food market concept and there sales and profits were ten times higher than the average grocery store, and that amazed me, ten times the sales and profits per square foot comparison. This says it all, people want quality, if they can afford it, and when looking at health issues, we all know what we eat is important to our health, so eat smart, get educated on what to avoid.

I Absolutely Agree!
It is amazing how many prescription drug commercials I see on television in the evening! And then when you listen to the side effects why would anyone want to go to their doctor and discuss taking that. I think they're meant as scare tactics.
It is so frustrating how much more the healthy versions of foods cost. But if it is that much better for me - more natural, I will spend the extra money. Right now I'm busy reading labels to try to stop buying "partially hydrogenated" anything and it's really tough!

Choosing the right foods will keep you more healthy than drugs will
Interesting,
This is a subject near and dear to my heart, and if more people would take the time to learn about true healthy living, we wouldn't have a meltdown in our health care system. If people knew most diseases could be prevented with proper diet, and eating healthy, who wouldn't follow this advice?
When I see these drug commercials I cringe when you listen to the warnings, who in their right mind would want to take these drugs knowing the side effects, or worse, how they can impact your health. I am so sick of seeing all the drug commercials that I simply shut them out of my mind when they come on TV.
The one that gets me is the Chantix to kick the smoking habit. Yes, it may work, but at what cost, it makes some people suicidal according to FDA, now there is one way to help a person stop smoking, have them jump off a bridge or run a railway crossing with your car. Sick, I cannot even believe anyone would risk taking a drug like this which could make them suicidal. And in a recession where unemployment is rising, I would imagine more than a few are suicidal already.
Eating right is where it all starts with health, and yes, you can eat more healthy if you know what to look for, and over processed foods are a must to avoid at all costs. Eating good does cost more, but in the end, it will not only save you money, it will save your life nine out of ten times in the end. Stay off drugs is mandatory, seek natural alternatives first, you would be amazed at how many effective alternatives there are to drugs, so do your research first and foremost, the answers are out there, believe me.

I definately agree. The big pharmas., manufacturers and FDA are all helping to kill people quietly with all this processed junk and drugs. From msg to hydrogenated oils and cancer forming artificial sweetners, finding good food is a big battle ground and you have to hop skip and jump over all sorts of dead and dangerous things to get there.
Almost nothing's really pure anymore cause even the soil, plants and animals are being contaminated in all sorts of ways. People have to start taking responsibility for their own health and do their own research to get and use the right information that is very much available for our benefit.

I agree, I am really into staying fit and eating healthy and I recently went to a seminar dedicated to reducing the toxins in your body. One great tip that I learned is to look at the ingredients that are found below the "nutritional value" label that tells you how much fat and protein are in things. Look for foods that have the least amount of ingredients or that are closest to their natural state.
One of the things that most people dont know is that just about everything that we buy has sugars of some form ( high fructose corn syrup, canola oil, etc)
Even the stuff that we clean our houses with is toxic on some levels.
I can go on and on, Its almost like we are set up for failure right out of the gate.

High fructose corn syrup sounds delicious but is killer
Agreed,
When I started researching the foods I eat, I am amazed just how much garbage is found in some of my favorites, even products that led me to believe they were healthier alternative. These manufacturers have been duping us for years with useless and in many cases harmful fillers.
Ironically, I discovered how the read labels from researching pet foods, and wow, talk about junk, our poor pets are being killed off with shorter and shorter life spans, so I then realized it is not just our pets being poisened, it is us too.
Anyone who has had pets over the years must see how their life spans have decreased dramatically from when we had pets as kids. My first dog lived to be 18 and was overweight and not very active, but she was not fed pet food, just select table foods, so it made me wonder given my sons dog died at only 10 years old and he was fed premium dog food, you know the ones, don't want to mention names, but I learned to read labels very carefully. In short, all labels list most percentage of content first, and that is scary.
Simply put, we all have to get educated about labels and ingredients to avoid shortening our pets lives as well as our own. We have to get the word out, don't buy products with high fructose corn syrup as example. It is in most ice creams, cereals, ketchup and thousands of other products, so read those labels. Canola oil is in almost all salad dressings as example, another useless cheap filler most food manufacturers use, so BEWARE.

Natural foods and medicine is still the best. Less costly and good for the health.
