Default Are they all scams?

I have always assumed that transcription work is always a scam. All of the websites advertising it seem to want you to pay to join and so I have always avoided them. has anyone had any positive experiences of these?

Not all medical transcription companies which claim to give work to do at home are scams. There are lots of companies which give work for many work at home moms who earn an handsome income in it. Yes, there are indeed some scam companies who cheat people claiming to give work but ultimately fail to do so.

I work for Speak-Write (formerly Cyber Secretaries). They are definately not a scam. I did have to purchase a foot pedal and headphones - but not until after the training period when I was sure I was accepted an and IC.

There are many many legit places out there. You may have to work for one for dirt cheap in order to get experience to get in with the better paying firms.

No. they are not all scams. As a matter of fact, my friends wife does transcriptions as a part time business. She make money at it, but not enough to quit her full time job.

Can you make residual income with medical transcription work? Where do you find the contract? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I just did a blog post on Demand Studios, a freelance site where you can get work in filmmaking, writing, copyediting, transcription or title editing. It is only available to US residents age18 and over. You need to provide a resume and writing sample. No fee and they pay weekly via paypal!

No, medical Transcription is not something that you make residual income from.

You are typing up medical records from audio. Each record is unique. MT is a career, not MLM. You will most likely be working for Doctors and maybe outsource companies.

To get more information on the MT field visit TranscribeFromHome.info or message me.

Hi Everybody...I am a new member. I recently joined Career Step and am doing the MT course there. They actually promise to find work after you are done with the course. I have my fingers crossed.

Good luck,

Please report back your results to help others make better decisions given there are so many scams in this arena of home work transcriptions which promise you work after you pay for their training or system.

Success to all, Mike

Just wanted to clarify here. Career Step does not find you work after you graduate. They do offer placement assistance, but that means they will help you with your resume and give you leads on who is hiring, but you will still have to apply and interview and get the job yourself. There is no guarantee you will be employed upon graduation.

Transcription is definitely not a scam though, but you should never have to pay to get a transcription job. I graduated from CS in 2007 and have been working as a medical transcriptionist since then.
