If you think about it, MOST businesses are MLM to a certain extent. Any company, MCDonalds, Walmart, anywhere has people aka managers, who make more money by bringing in good employees, training them & them making sales. Managers get bonuses all the time and make more salary than the regular employees. With an MLM getting paid on your downline is the same thing in my opinion. You bring in someone to work the business and you get a bonus on their sales, but in return you have to be a great trainer and offer support to your downline. Getting bonuses for their sales is a result of the time you put into them. But by joining an MLM, you are your own boss and anyone who wants it can succeed and become "manager". Many people have had success with many great companies. Do your research, find your passion, and make sure you have a great sponsor who will answer any questions. Then get to work, a business will not build itself, and it does take time to build. But if you work at it a little everyday, you will succeed!

wahm2my2boys, I know exactly what you are referring to. You are talking about a hierarchy or what some people refer to as a "pyramid".

I know since I have been involved in mlm or network marketing, people who have little to no understanding about the work from home business opportunities, refer to a mlm or network marketing as a "pyramid scheme".

If people stop to think about it, most companies have structures that can be referred to as a pyramid or a hierarchy. You have to the top person, usually the CEO, followed by the President, Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers, and so on. So, you are correct wahm2my2boys; pyramids/hierarchy are not owned by MLM or network marketing business opportunities.

The thing I like about MLM's and network marketing opportunities, which you also mention, is the opportunity for the "little person" to make a lot of money. At a company or corporation, the opportunity to make an unbelievable income by working hard, for most people, is not possible. Most times, at a company, in order to make a good income, you usually have to trade time for money, meaning, you acquire more responsibility that requires you to put in more time at the job. So, you are not really making good money, not based on the amount of work you put into your job. I know. I have been there. I made a very good income way back when, but I just about lived at my job. I had absolutely no personal life. The end result for me, "burn out". This is why I am working on developing a business for myself and my family.

Hello GailTravel. I had heard that Robert was a supporter of network marketing and MLM's, but I was not aware that Donald Trump was. It is good to know that there are others, who have acquired wealth through means other than an MLM, are still supporters of network marketers and MLM business opportunities.

I don't know why so many people are scared off by these business opportunities. I suspect due to the high failure rate. I believe the high failure rate stems from people having high expectations and when those expectations are not met, they quit.

It is unrealistic to expect most people to achieve wealth and success in a short amount of time. I think of building a business the same as going to college. It took me 5 years to get my Bachelor's degree. Why would one expect it to take a short time to build a business?
