All of my pets are spayed or neutered. It is less stressful for the animal, plus I have no interest in having more pets unless I go and get one. People said that I should not have gotten Sugar fixed. They said that since she is a pure bred chihuahua, I could make money by breeding her. I say no. She is a pet only, not something for me to make money off of.

One of my neighbors has 3 or 4 bull puppies. They are rot wielders or bull dogs, I forget which, but he breeds them. They are cute.

All of my cats, Michaela, Sasha May, and Cornflake, I got from the humane society. I didn't get Sugar from there because I did not want another pet at the time, my sister went to the pet store and selected her. After my sister decided that she did not want her anymore, I adopted her. I could not see my sister taking her back to the pet store at 6 months of age.

Smile Hi

My ex sister in law had a pure bred chiihuahua and tried to bred her to make extra money, but she had a hard time finding a pure bred male at the time. She finally ended up getting her fixed.
I am glad you kept Sugar. The chances of her getting adopted after 6 months is a lot lower than 2-3 months. Unless it is an older perosn looking to not have to teach the potty training.
I perferably get my animals at around 2-3 months old so that I can teach them myself. I have only had one animal (a dog) for which my ex mom in law could not take care of her, was 1 year old. It is not easy to train after being taught to jump on furniture and potty in the house. It took another year to teach her everything that I wanted her to do. My niece fell in love with her after i had her trained and ended up taking her. That was a good thing because at the time I had one dog and 2 cats. She was a shizoo. They ended up later getting another shizoo to keep her company. Verrrrry cute together.

The stories about the dying pets are so sad! I had a terrier who died of cancer as a kid and it made me never want to own a pet again. I can't handle the thought of losing them! Maybe a pet with a loooong lifespan, like a giant turtle... j/k

Yeah losing an animal is not easy. I lost my Michaela. I ended up getting another cat so that my other cat would have some company while I was at work. I worked quite a bit during my career. I was rarely at home which made me feel guilty.

SweetestMiracle, I am glad I kept Sugar too. In fact, my sister and my mother are in my home now and my sister treats Sugar like a thing. My sister thinks she is an animal person, but she is not. She likes the cute little puppies, but does not enjoy the work it takes to train them and also the amount of attention they require. She is always shooing Sugar away. My sister says the Sugar makes her nervous. My sister reminds me so much of my father, who also was not a pet person. Yet, my sister keeps saying that she is going to get another dog for her son. I certainly hope not. She would only end up giving it away like she has all of her other 10+ dogs and who knows how many cats. She never keeps the pets.

That is soooo sad. What is there to be nervous about?
An animal should not be placed in the home for your kids if you are not an animal lover. We as adults are the ones who provide the care for the animals until the kids reach a certain age. Then you are able to place some of the responisbilty on to your kids to teach them how to provide care. I had done this with my kids. They are in their teens now, but they each have an animal that they take care of. So now I only have to take the dog out every once and a while and give lots to both. Its soooooo nice

I agree with you SweetestMiracle. My sister is a nervous person. I think because Sugar is such an active dog, always wanting attention, running around the house, and so on, my sister does not like this.

I tried to explain to her that it is because Sugar stays in the cage all day. When Sugar is out of her cage, she is excited to be free after spending all day in the cage.

Anyway, Sugar is in my lap now. I try to spend as much time as I can when she is out of her cage and it ain't easy being that I am so busy every day. But, she is my heart as well as all of my pets. So, if my sister or my mom don't want her around, I do. Plus, and I told my sister this, this house is Sugar's house too. Therefore, she is free to go wherever she pleases except maybe to their rooms. So, get over it. End of story.

I am off my soapbox now.

Thank you for letting me share....

I am a more of a cat person because I once found a kitty 10 years ago which was abandoned by its family and i had to fed it with injections (yes it was that small) and I am very attached to him still. So yes definitely a cat person. Although I like dogs to.

Other than that horses

I have two cats. I like cats too and dogs. In fact, I like most animals. My favorite animal is the elephant. I like the elephant because of its intelligence and the fact that they are so family oriented. Everyone pitches in to care for the young elephants. Of course, I am talking about the female elephants. The males tend to be loners and are very territorial.

Now, keeping one at my house, no I don't think so. My little 6 pound chihuahua I don't mind cleaning up after. An elephant. No way.

You go girl. You tell them who is boss in your house. I know my sister-in-laws dog was full of energy. Chihuahua's are soooo small. She got her little dog a few months after mine. So now they are all old and grey.

As far as elephants? I have a collection of them in my house. Every year my husband or kids add to my collection. Have you ever heard of the saying that if you point their trunks towards the outside that it will bring you luck?

Horses? I love horses. But due to my back condition I am no longer able to do all the fun things that I once enjoyed. Horse back riding, dirtbike riding, snow skiiing, water skiing, mountain biking. Geezz I really miss those days. Sorry its my turn to turn on the soap box work2bfree. My back has been killing me this past week.

But on a lighter note, I feel so much better

Take care

I like cats myself, but I'm allergic to them. I have to wash my hands after petting them because if I start rubbing my eyes afterwards without washing my hands, my eyes start itching and watering.

My grandmother used to have a cat named Fluffy who had a limp and was missing an eye.

My neice used to have a kitten. Not sure what happened to it, but it was cute watching it play around.
