Hi
I have 3 dogs, 4 cats, and a household full of love for them all. I do not think of them as pets as much as I think of them as my children. While growing up I had a dog and cat and as the years progressed I have diversified my pet consumption and at one time I had 13 ferrets! What wonderful pets they were and oh so much work but it was all worth it. To clean cages each day became very tiresome but again so worth it. They would have free reign of the house when I was at home and they were so good about going to their litter box I had no problem with any mess or smell. Each one responded to their name, how smart is that. They get into everything and steal what they find appropriate to hide or to sleep with whatever the case they are not felons whats yours is theirs and whats theirs is theirs also. I did not realize ferrets do not last but 5 to 10 years, I assume because they are so hyper. Mine lasted 15 plus years. It was heart break when they started leaving me one by one and yes hard on them as well because of the adrenal disease they contract. I feel very fortunate to have had the experience I had with them. Some were rescue ferrets I got because of the abuse they had endured in the past. They were scared when I got them but through love and nurturing they came around to trust once again. The only thing I can say is: People, parents do not get a ferret for your children, this is why a lot of them are lost or uncared for and they do need a lot of interaction, care, love, and respect. Children lose interest fast. Anyway on a lighter note all animals are very intelligent, forgiving, nurturing, lending us their unconditonal love. My Emma, Molly, Max, Griffon, Annie, Ellie, Valentine I love you all so much and in remembrance to all who have passed on.
