I love animals. As a kid, my family never had many pets. We had one dog; a Siberian Husky. He was a beatiful dog. My father's law professor gave the dog to us. Unfortunately, we could not keep him for long. At 6 months of age, we had to give him away to a breeder because we were moving back to California and we could not take the dog with us.

Other than a few goldfish here and there, we never had any other animals. I guess you could say my brother, sister, and I are making up for this.

My brother and his wife have 3 or 4 cats. His wife is a member of some group where if they find stray animals, they care for them until they can find a nice family for them.

I have 2 cats and one dog; a 6 lb chihuahua. I did not expect to have a dog. I really just wanted the two cats because they are easier to care for and I have a busy life. Now, I can't see myself without this dog. I bought the dog for my sister. She begged me. Sugar, that is her name, cost me $600.00. She is all white and she is an apple headed Chihuahua. By the time Sugar turned 6 months old, my sister decided she did not want her anymore and this is how I inherited Sugar.

Now, my sister has beaten both me and my brother. She has had 6 to 8 cats and 9 to 10 dogs. She keeps them as kittens or puppies and then returns them to the pet store once they get older. I am not pleased with this and have told her she does not need anymore pets. She currently has not pets but is talking about getting another dog.

What kind of animals do you like? Which is your favorite, cats or dogs?

I like cats because of the low maintenance, but I also like dogs because they interact with you more than cats.

I love both cats and dogs.
I used to have a dog when I was little. The night he died, he came to me when I was with my friends in the backyard chatting. I pushed him away because I did not want to be bothered by him.
The morning when I woke up, he was dead.
To this day, I have not forgiven myself for pushing him away when he came to me sick and his death was near. He probably knew he was going to die and came to me for confort and I rejected him

We had a cat too, a female. Cats are selfish animals and not loyal animals like dogs. A dog would protect you if you were ever attacked or roughen by anybody. A cat wouldn't care.
The cat simply vanished one day. Maybe she ran off with a male cat to start their own family. We used to live in a wooded area.

I have not had a pet during my adult life, unless you can count the 2 parrokets that I had, who died of smoke inhalation when my apartment caught on fire.

I don't think I'll ever have another pet. I don't want to deal with having an animal, feeding it, taking it to the vet, finding someone to take care of it when I am traveling, etc... It's just too much hassle.

Ahhhh Ablaye, your poor dog. I had the same thing happen to me with my first cat, Michaela.

I was laying in bed with my other cat Cornflake, watching t.v. My cat, Michaela jumped in bed next to me, which is rare for her. She was always very independent. Cornflake, the male, was and still not very independent. I held Michaela for a little while. She seemed so sad. After a while she jumped off the bed.

The next day, I took her to the vet because she seemed to loose a lot of weight. I thought it was because of Cornflake. He had been sick and I had to rush him to emergency at some point. Cornflake was like a son to Michaela. Well, while at work, I received a phone call from the vet. They found a mass near her kidney and felt it was cancer. They said that I should go on ahead and put her down. I said ok, but I started crying for the next 2 days.

I agree with you about the hassle. I am so busy that I don't have the time to spend with my pets. Both my cats get the attention because they both sleep with me and have been since they were kittens. Sugar, the dog, sleeps in her kennel. I give her attention by letting her lay in my lap while I work. In fact, she is in my lap now. She is a little white, 6 lb. Chihuahua and is such a little princess.

I love animals

We had a beautiful long haired tabby who passed away 3 years ago

Now we babysit our grandpuppy every other weekend, although she is a year old now so she isn't much of a puppy anymore!

I also have a pet minature aquatic turtle....I named him Derek Jeeter (yes after the Yankees player) but call him Jeeter for short.

I too LLLOOOVVVEEE Animals to the point of worrying about them before humans well sometimes. My Mother is the Dog Warden of Milford,CT so I grew up with Animals my Whole Life. My All Black Belgium Shepard of 12 Yrs. Died The first week of November I haven't cried like that since My Father passed. I am very emotional but I think its a good thing cause I don't hold anything in.

You are right wannaliveright. I have never been exposed to death until my cat Michaela died. I remember to this day when she jumped in my bed the day before I put her down. She wanted to be held. I held her for a little while and then she decided that was enough.

This was unusual for Michaela. She was always an independent cat and did not like the lovey-dovey thing. My cat Cornflake loves to be held. Of course he is the only male animal I have had. My dog, Sugar, an all white, 6 lb Chihuahua, loves to be held. She is laying in my lap now. She is also passing a lot of tinky gas. I think I gave her too much sugar pop cereal. She loves that sugar pop cereal.

I too love animals. In fact, my horiscope says that I have to be careful. My sign supposidly will tend to love animals more than people. Too late!

I'm a rescue mom - I rescue Bichon Frise dogs from puppy mills in Wisconsin.
I have two of them I kept - one a boy and one a little girl who's hind foot was chewed off in the mill. I'd like to spread awareness around about puppy mills that are run by the Amish and get them closed.

I don't care for puppy mills either. My dog is from one of them. She is lucky that she is in a good home.

Both of my cats are from the humane society. My cat Cornflake was abandoned along with his other 2 brothers in front of the Humane Society in Atlanta Georgia. I happened to come along that day and adopt him.

I adopted him because he was the runt of the litter. He has been a very sickly cat much of his life, but he has such a loving spirit. He is 14 now and he is currently in his usual position, sound asleep on my bed.

I am having rite now Loving birds. they are so beautiful and their voice is very very sweet. But taking care of them are really time consuming thats why I am looking for some pet care taker.

I am finding out why I did not get a dog when I had the chance early on. Dogs require so much more care than cats. On the other hand, may be needy, but they are also very affectionate.

Cats want to be affectionate one day and the next, forget about it. You just never know with cats. I guess it is my mood that determines which type personality I want to contend with.
