Thumbs up Proper ways on saving gas money

Many think that saving gas money is difficult to achieve. Since gas is costly these days, they would assume that they cannot save on even a single cent for a gallon of gas. But in reality, you can. You just have to be smart when it comes to dealing with money and your gas spending.

If you want to know these secrets, then here are the four ways to save gas money:

1. Find the lowest gas price.

For those who cannot afford that expensive diesel, find an option for your gas. Although this might be a little hard if your car specifies a specific kind of diesel, so be sure to check your owner’s manual before switching to a lower brand of gas. If you don’t know where to look for one, do a research online. There are hundreds of websites and links that will cater to your gas needs. Some websites have updated information and statistics on the different gas stations that offer lower gas prices. They always keep track of the prices every 24 hours.
When to make gas purchase.

A helpful tip on getting cheaper gas is to know at which time of the day to fill your pump. You can fill it up before dawn or late at night, especially if the traffic volume is down. If you want to risk getting very early, then do so. But filling up gas at a later night can be good for you too!

2. Keep your car in good condition.

Included on the four ways to save gas money is to keep your vehicle in perfect shape. Do a regular check-up with your car. Properly check all the car parts: air filters, spark plugs, and fluid level. Keep your tires inflated so that it won’t cause you trouble down the road. Also, remember to lighten up the load on your trunk.

3. Get a gas card.

Yes, get one for yourself, preferably a gas reward card. Carrying cards and using them for gas purchases can actually save you a whole lot of money. With a gas card, you earn rebates, reward points, and other benefits. It really depends on how much the card will reward you with the purchases that you make. To make sure that you are making the right decisions, ask the locals for the best gas card deals in town. They will recommend which card will fit best for you.

So there you have it. Those are the four ways to save gas money. Make use of these techniques and your gas problem will be solved in no time!

All of these are good suggestions Andre. I try to follow at least the first two. When it comes to a gas card, I usually use my debit card. It is just convenient. Hard to find a good gas card, but to be honest, I have not spent time looking around for one.

I agree Andre. I keep my tank filled. These days I do not let it get past the 1/2 mark. Also I noticed that if you get your gas early in the morning, you won't pay the added 1-2 cents they add on later in the day. These gas stations are trying to be sneaky!!This has happend to me a few times, but not anymore.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Another tip is to use cruise control as much as possible. You avoid stepping on the accelerator constantly which consumes gas. I've been using cruise control for a year now and I pump gas every three weeks now.

I heard something weird the other day about how if you drive behind a large vehicle like a semi then this will lower the wind resistance and you won't use as much gas.

This is true, however it may not be something to try... When you are close enough behind the truck, they may not be able to see you if they have to suddenly stop or if you try to make a move.

I kind of follow the general rule that if you can't see a truck's mirror, then they can't see you.

Sounds great in theory, but may be a little risky in practice.

Smile Hi

I totally agree with you Grady. But they also do not like you doing that behind them. They know what you are up to........They will slow their speed to make you move. Past experience as a teen

As long as you keep the proper distance..three car lengths..I think you're safe but definitely plan for extra travel time if you want to use this approach

You also want to avoid large vehicles, such as semis. I had the experience of driving behind a semi one time and all of a sudden, one of their tires popped. I don't know what kind of tires these semis use, but pieces of the tire started flying back. I just missed one. I had to swerve away from the truck in order to avoid from hitting those pieces of tires.

The truck pulled over to the side, but behind him were huge hunks of his tire in the middle of the highway. Pretty scary. This is why I don't drive anywhere near a semi. Those trucks can be dangerous.

Unhappy HI

Geez that would be scary. I am glad that you were okay. How about trying ot pass a semi when it is pouring? I don't know how many times i have tried to pass a semi and have been blinded by all the water shooting out from its tires. Talk about panic. I have gone off the road a few times because my windshield wipers could not keep up with the tons of water being thrown on top of my car. :0
