Speech Recognition Software
I recently got a headset with a mic for my pc. When I booted in to Windows Vista, I found on the control panel that I had options for speech recognition, so I spent the morning setting it up and going through the tutorials.
I'd have to say that I find it interesting. I can see how it can be helpful, particularly to someone who writes a lot, which is one reason that I decided to try it. Now, overall, I've been unimpressed with Vista, but this is one thing that I am experimenting with at least a little success.
One thing I'll mention is that if you have someone in the same room watching TV, particularly at high volumes, that can interfere with the mic picking up random stuff from the TV or interfering with the computer understanding your own commands.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone else tried speech recognition software? I know there's Dragon Speak Naturally, which I have not tried yet, but I would assume would be better than the Windows Native program. If you have, what programs have you tried, particularly on either Windows or Linux, and what has your experience been?
