The best place to search for freelancing in your locality would be newspapers which have CAREERS or similar section in the newspapers offering many jobs in many fields. Internet is a good option too, but such newspapers are the best ones in my opinion.

Default Online projects are easier to get

Most of the Freelance writing projects are online. but i think one can get similar projects in the "non-virtual' world as well. I have landed a work to prepare brochures/prospectus contents for a College, School and an MNC firm.

Internet is the best place to look for any freelancing jobs. Try out with different keywords in the search engines. I'm sure you will find one of your choice. Also, you can look for one in your local newspapaper.

Smile some freelance here and there

I had the same problem not being able to find a lot of local freelance work so now I do work through elance because it's free and so far it's been convenient and easy to use.

Any site like that works well I feel because you can display your portfolio and there are many jobs posted from one online location so you're not spending all your time hunting around.
