Other than eBay's terms of what's prohibited for sale, I recommend checking out Terapeak.com. It's a eBay sales research site. You get 20 searches for free, and it will tell you what has sold within the last seven days and how many.

If you get a sales percentage of 40% or higher, it's worth selling. It can also give you an idea where to start your pricing. If you're prepared to do some serious eBay power-selling, you may want to upgrade to Terapeak's yearly membership. I found it very helpful and useful to know what's hot in the different eBay markets. It was very helpful.

Now, I don't use it some much because I'm focusing on other ways to make money online.

Items under $10 will pratically cost you more to sell than you will make. My wife tried to sell her hand made quilts and aprins on eBay. The quilts sold retail go for $125. and up. On eBay the highest bids at the end of the auction were under $40. The materials cost her more than that. Fortunatelly for her she placed a reserve price and did not have to let the items go for such a low price. We try to avoid eBay all together, not that eBay is bad, you just have to know what sells.

It can really be challenging trying to figure out what to sell on auction. I guess anything can sell if it's what people want. I just try to always sell good quality stuff so that way I can receive good feedback.

Dont forget to add also that eBay will take a certain percentage of what you win, how much it sells for determines how much they take also if you use paypal they will take a percentage of what you get also to use the service. So I think the key is to sell alot of the lower value goods that people want/need to max profit.
