Back links are great ways to boost you search engine ratings (Search Engine Optimization) and to get traffic. It's simply a link on another website (or blog, or social network) that links back to your site (or blog etc). If you are looking to promote a website, it's a good idea to create a blog or Squidoo lens that has your site's link, as well as posting it on Facebook, Twitter, etc. But remember, don't spam!

If I am wrting articles, making squidoo lenses, and have my own website, is it good to link them altogether? Or, when creating backlinks is it better to link to sites with higher traffic?

I know that linking all of MY sites together will generate more exposure for me, but I need to get people in that circle of links first....you know what i mean?
