I dont think that there is any one spot that you can go to generate a lot of backlinks. Like mentioned above backlinks come from blogging, articles, social media, ads press releases etc. One think that you can do that helps is use a social bookmarking site and submit your websites to a bunch of social sites at one time.

Still i haven't checked on finding back links on my blog from the other blogs since i am using blogger platform. I am not interested now as well. Let come in natural way.

But,if you're using word press then you can get many back links as others blogger automatically start to give link if you linked from your side.

I am not user of wordpress but i heard from other blogger.
