I see your point, but I also see theirs.

You have to remember that a lot of these people looking for ways to make money from home are looking for a telecommuting job. They either have just been laid off, or they've become disabled or whatever. Their natural inclination is to find something that's within their skill level or something that's not too hard for them to learn to do.

Many people do not have experience in sales. I certainly didn't. They have a degree or certification to perform a particular job or service. That job no longer exists for them. So while they're hunting around on Monster.com or Craigslist, they will spot the ad that says "work from home". Naturally, it piques the interest. Work from home, save on gas, save on daycare, save on commuting. Nice. In their mind, this means a typing job or data entry (as in filling out forms, not filling out pay per click ads), you know, internetty stuff.

But they become disillusioned when they really it's not a job, but it's an opportunity to make money. Their initial thought might be "scam", even if the program is 100% legit. Eventually, they do hear about people making money online through commission-based income. They think they'll give it a try, but it's completely counter to the way they're used to completing work. It requires more out of the box thinking than doing punch-in clock work.

They've probably never had to article market. They're still trying to figure out what Clickbank is and how it works. They're comparing it to Pampered Chef and Amway and Avon, getting the whole thing mixed up.

And in this economy with a huge recession getting worse by the minute, making money on "maybe" money is not an option for some people. They want steady work or something like it.

I understand you being frustrated, but I also understand where these folks are coming from. I wouldn't worry about them. Focus your efforts on people willing to take a risk, willing to see the big picture and have a vision, willing to go with the ups and downs of a business, willing to put in the time and effort to build a long term residual income. Let that be known up front so you don't deal with tire kickers. Those people will stick around with your program. The rest will peel off and find what's suitable for them.

Recruiting a sales staff or sales people is strictly a numbers game....

You have to approach a large number of prospects to find the few that are suited for your business....and suited to sell......

It is more difficult in today's economy.....less disposable income for many people makes it harder to sell many products...

Default COMMISSION ONLY EMPLOYMENT Is NOT FOR 97% Of POPULATION

Good topic.

Having not started in the sales industry, but hearing for years when I first entered the corporate world, I discounted it as nothing, but as I have learned, not everyone is cut out to be in sales, and even more so on commission only basis. I switched to sales because I was selling more product than sales staff were based on my customer service and people skills, so I have been selling ever since, selling myself. lol

Most people hate selling, almost as much as most people hate being sold. Nothing will change that, and the car salerperson is perfect example, along with appliance sales, furniture, insurance, etc., people don't like being hard sold or followed around, so I learned a secret to my success, I would approach a customer and simply say, I know, most don't want to be bothered, but every once in a while a person does, so I am asking only if you happen to be that rare person. I would always get a smile and a thanks, and when the needed help, they would ask for me. Simple, effective, and it made me a ton of money over the years.

Bottom line, very few are cut out to be sales people, nerve racking for most not to know how much your next check will be for, and training people to be salespeople is usually a waste of time unless a person is a natural, as I call it, just as I was, a people person, a listener, had empathy, passion, etc., it takes more than canned presentation to be good at selling anything is what I have learned. Anyone who does not sell on commission is not a good salesperson, and this is the reason the car industry and insurance pays there newbies a base salary now. So few would even consider a commission only job that they had to do something. lol

Success to all, Mike
