Yes, but there's a big difference between clicking a link from Facebook or Twitter, where you probably know the person, and a shortened URL on a web site you've only just stumbled across.

I'm "used" to shortened URLs--I make my living on the web, after all. But I have to stand by the "shady" comment. I *know* to expect a shortened URL at Twitter; when I see one on a web site, though, I gotta' wonder what it is you don't want me to see. Sorry, but that's my opinion.
