Thanks for the heads up on this.

The first thing that should scare people is the idea of having their name connect to any kind of computer systems break ins.

If you find someone soliciting money...turn around, go the other way and don't look back.

Any sort of offer involving Western Union or wiring money or anything like that is a scam. I've seen so many of them online it's not even funny. I feel bad for your friend but I can't believe that he would actually allow someone else to take his money so he could "hack into somewhere to grow it." Even if that were true why would you want to be involved with that?

These scammers feed off of desperate people. If someone comes up to you with an offer like that then don't accept. They know how desperate you are for money and that you may be willing to do anything to get the money you need. All they're trying to do is scam you.

My sister actually got a check in the mail, a REAL one, for $2000. Someone wanted her to send them $1500 and keep the rest ($500). She did it but didnt know that it was a scam till after I told her about what it was...basically laundering. She felt bad. Avoid these things for real.

She is very lucky that it was a real one. To many scammers can print up real looking money orders and use those. Locally to me there have been several people hit by these scams of cashing fake money orders. A greedy stupidity law covering it would be helpful. Make people think for a change.

Some US states have a Stupid Driver Law, so a precedent has been set.

Western union is a great way of money transfers for scamers, because it is not traceable and when you send the money you guarantee that you know the person and will not get the money back.
